5 Rules You Must Obey In Order To Lose Weight And Stay Slim

For all out there who struggle not only to lose weight but to keep the extra pounds off, I would like to give some important pointers. I have struggled many years with different diets. Until I found the only way possible to lose weight is to stick to these 5 rules.

You might be surprised, but to lose weight and stay slim the most important rule of all is:

1. You have to eat.
If you don’t eat enough food, you won’t be able lose weight and keep it off. Yes, you will lose weight but gain it all back quickly once you start eating normally again. I remember trying to lose the extra pounds and as the days pasted by I noticed that I had to eat less and less food to keep losing weight.

And what happened? The less I ate the less I lost weight. I realized that my body’s metabolism had slowed down. And I felt miserable, tired and I was hungry. That’s when I realized that I have to eat to lose weight.

2. You have to eat food that gives your body energy.
You need energy throughout the day. You need energy to live and you need energy to burn fat and get slim. Foods that give you energy will help your body to get rid of the extra pounds quicker.

3. You have to be physically active
People who are overweight have a harder time to do some kind of sport. My super-slim girlfriend once told me that she loves to do sport because it is so easy for her. I don’t like to do sport. So what do I do? I walk outside. Between half and one hour and five times per week, sometimes less, sometimes more. Sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly.

I have learned to listen to my body and do the workout according to my daily condition. That is enough to keep losing weight, get a great body shape and feel good. I walk mostly in the mornings before going to work. That way I feel great the whole day because I know that I have done something for my body and myself.

4. Set small goals
Don’t tell yourself: I have to lose 40 pounds in 2 months. Make weekly goals. I set my goal to lose up to 2,2 pounds (=1kg) per week. If I lost more, great, if I lost less, it was ok, as well. There will be weeks you lose more and weeks you lose less no matter how consequent you are. Your body is not a machine. Give it time. And how quick is one week over? In a snap. One month? In a snap. Three months? You get the point.

5. Think positive
Imagine yourself being slim again or for the first time in your life. This helps to stay motivated. When I’m outside walking I’m still not only planning my day but I’m thinking about all the great things in my life and the things I want to achieve. This helps me to have a positive attitude and stay motivated.
